remain on'.
Key capabilities include:
- Planning
- Analysis and Design
- Innovative services and solutions
- Consents and Approvals
- Overhead Line Construction, Re-Engineering and
Refurbishment
Our dedicated teams can work together as
part of a full line re-engineering, refurbishment, construction or
a stand-alone project, providing maximum flexibility for our
clients.
We take great pride in the considerable breadth of
our people's expertise. Our skilled engineers, innovation
and design teams, project managers and administrators ensure that
customers receive an integrated solution that fully meets their
needs.
Promoting Innovation
In partnership with major clients, we play an important
role in developing and researching new innovative technologies and
engineering solutions for power networks which have been adopted as
the industry standard, reinforcing Babcock's position at the
forefront of power transmission technology.
Our in-house Innovation and Development (I&D) team has been
established to drive the creation and improvement of systems,
products or processes with the purpose of increasing commercial or
safety performance. The aim is to discover opportunities where
we can rationalise current systems, and even completely rethink
current techniques, to deliver cutting-edge methods and tools to
assist us in providing better services to our clients. Previous
innovations are currently setting new standards in the industry for
safety whilst also maintaining high levels of performance and
cost-effectiveness, a combination in which Babcock is Trusted to
Deliverâ„¢:
- Condition Assessment Risk Engineering (CARE)
model
Babcock is dedicated to prolonging the longevity
and sustaining the capacity of the power network. As part of an
overhead line's re-engineering or refurbishment we can provide
condition assessment and feasibility studies.
Our highly sophisticated 'CARE' computer model assesses
environmental, geographical and corrosive factors to provide
accurate information about the current and future condition of
steel assets. The information generated helps clients make the
right intervention decisions at the right time, demonstrating
exactly what needs to be replaced or refurbished and at what
level.
- SkySafe
Babcock's scaffoldless crossing protection
system was developed and patented by our in-house Innovation and
Development team. SkySafe has been thoroughly tested and developed
for situations where conventional crossing protection is
impractical due to access, location, timescale or costing
difficulties. It offers a
cost-effective and practical method of renewing conductors compared
to the scaffold structures traditionally employed. SkySafe has been
successfully deployed on many high-voltage network projects,
including crossing the M25 motorway and the main east coast railway
line.
