Babcock recently scooped the 'Supplier of the Year' award at the
inaugural Emergency Service Awards (www.esawards.co.uk) ceremony,
held at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. The award recognised our
outstanding work with the Metropolitan Police Service's (MPS)
vehicle fleet that travels over 63 million miles each year.
Babcock's Mobile Assets business unit supports the MPS through a
10-year engineering-led contract which guarantees the availability
of their mobile assets. The award recognises our continual
innovation and improvement which has delivered improved efficiency
and operational capability for the MPS fleet of circa 3,700
vehicles.
One example of Babcock's innovative approach - an electronic
T-card board tool - has improved the way in which work is allocated
within the workshop, providing full visibility of workload and
information to all departments, aiding communication and
prioritisation across the fleet. It has helped to reduce repair
turnaround times by 50% and improved customer satisfaction through
reduced downtime.
A spokesman for MPS Transport Services said; "We are delighted
to see Babcock win this award. We enjoy a partnership that
encourages us to continuously develop our contract and explore
innovative methods and processes to deliver better for less - the
electronic T card system is a great example of how we have worked
together to deliver significant improvements to the contract".
